Double braided nylon, also known as braid on braid nylon, is actually two braided ropes combined into one rope. A braided core is covered with a braided jacket to produce a strong, easy to handle rope. This rope is easy-spliced and very strong. Nylon double braided is the perfect choice for applications requiring high strength with excellent shock absorbing properties. Nylon double braided has good resistance to abrasion, sunlight and chemicals. Due to its high elongation, nylon is almost always used in applications involving shock loading such as boat and yacht like anchor lines, dock lines and mooring lines, entertainment like climbing rope, horse bridle rope etc., safety & rescue like static rope, block line, firm lay lifeline, high-angle rescue, crane like lifting sling, winch line, hoist rope etc. Nylon, also known as Polyamide, is the first synthetic fiber. This material is slightly stronger than Polyester but will be weakened by up to 10% when it gets wet. Nylon has good UV and abrasion resistance. The primary advantage of nylon over other materials is its 30% stretch to break, this makes nylon ideal in applications where energy absorption is a requirement. Nylon has a relative density of 1.14 and a melting point of 220 deg C.
